Erin Caitlin Smith - Defy Gravity

Erin has been Pole Dancing at Defy Gravity since 2012 and is a PDC Level 4 graded and fully insured Instructor. You will see Erin in most of the classes Defy Gravity Offer as she is always keen to learn new moves, dances and keep expending her knowledge of pole.

Erin teaches Intro, Beginners and Improvers level Pole dance and will often run a Chrome Core Workshop for those looking to up their strength and fitness. Erin focuses on teaching safe techniques in a way that is suitable for all abilities and ensures that every class is as fun for all involved! Erin has a passion for fitness and also enjoys going to the gym and weight lifting to help get stronger for those extremely advanced pole tricks and spins.

I enjoy teaching pole because I love to see the progress, even in the first few weeks of an intro class you can see a student develop and grow, they become more confident and you can see improvements in their technique and strength gain. I hope to share my passion for fitness and pole dancing and help other progress in the way I have. I hope to bring as much fun to my classes as I have had learning.’

Erin first begin pole dancing to get stronger, toned and to gain confidence. After just four weeks of starting pole dancing she bought an X-pole, though Defy Gravity, so she could practice what she had learnt in class, as well as show off her new and unusual hobby to others.

‘I started pole dancing with a friend, I was bored of going to the gym and running on the treadmill expecting to get stronger - don’t ask me why I thought I would get stronger from running on a treadmill! From my first pole lesson I was hooked, I enjoyed the challenges of new moves and how quickly I felt more confident in myself.’

When I discuss pole dancing with people, most reply with ‘I would love to try pole!’ When I ask them why they haven’t already their usual excuse is ‘I’m not strong enough’ or ‘I don’t have the confidence’. When I was a beginner I didn’t walk into pole class strong and full of confidence, I gained it from taking pole classes. I would encourage everyone to try pole dancing at least once, and trust me, you won’t want to stop there!’

My mission as a pole dance instructor for Defy Gravity is to spread the word and my love for pole to everybody in Pembrokeshire! Age, size or fitness ability doesn’t matter, everyone is welcome to my classes and I will try my best to make every last one of you feel happy, sexy and confident in your body and have fun whilst doing it. So if you are reading this I hope to see you in class in the near future!’
