Jamie Taylor is a rebellious kineastetic who causes change to create space for ultimate freedom of expression for others. She opened Defy Gravity in 2006. Defy Gravity is Pembrokeshires only PDC Approved, Xpert trained, syllabus based and fully insured Pole Dance school. As well as a flawless pass rate in the Certification in Pole Silks, and also Flexibility and Stretching for Pole and Aerial with Spin City. Jamie is also a PDC Approved Level 4 Star Instructor, Xpole Xpert 1&2, Qualified Hatha and Ashtanga Level 3 Yoga Teacher and Yoga Alliance member, and is the 2011 All Wales Pole Dance Champion.

Jamie has over 18 months Performing Arts experience (051 Mount Pleaseant, Liverpool), and has been a Pole Performer (strip club and as well as nightclub) for over 10 years!

Aswell as introducing the very first Pole Dance classes to Pembrokeshire in 2006, Jamie also brought National Pole Championship heats and Charity shows into the area. 
Defy Gravity, as a PDC Approved school, is able to offer the internationally recognised Advancement and Accreditation Scheme to all pole dancers in Pembrokeshire, alongside its own syllabus.

She now coaches her students for competition as well as running Pole Dance classes for complete beginners up to advanced, and has competed nationaly, performed alongside other top names in the industry at the first UK Pole Dance Day Show at Riverside Studios in London, and has been a grand finalist twice, in 2008 and 2010. Winning 1st in the ultimate Welsh title at the All Wales Championships in April 2011. 

Since then, Jamie was invited to compete in the Elite category of the UK Professional Pole Championships in December 2011, and was on the judging panel at The Polenastics Championships 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Jamie was one finalist of 7, that was invited to compete at Elite Level at the international Pole Theatre competition in the Classique category.
And also, chosen to judge at The Authentic Pole Dance Competition in 2014.

Also, in 2014, she was part of the team who created The London Sexy Back Showcase. Working with AMD, Polevocative, UPA and MFEO.

In October 2014, Jamie was the first person to gain a license to teach Cleo The Hurricanes `Rocking Legs N Abs`! Classes started on November 27th 2015!

2015 saw Jamie judging again at The Authentics. And also performing at the Weird an Wonderful show in Swindon.

Jamie also undertook a 3 day intensive Flow Movement for professionals, with famous movement master and pole artist Marlo Fisken.

2016 will see Jamie being on the judging panel at The Authentics, as well at being a judge at Dance Filthy UK, performing in the Elite Showcase at Dance Filthy, as well as performing alongside famous names and International Champions such as Bendy Kate, Miss Glory Pearl and Daniel Rosen at the Weird and Wonderful show again. And will be returning to the All Wales Champtionships as judge and guest performer.

More importantly, February 2016 saw the creation of her Serpent Power Sensual Movement Method. Please see the Serpent Power pages, under classes and workshops.

In 2017 so far Jamie was chosen to judge the `Stripper Style` element of Pole Supreme Showdown Championships, performed at Kitty Velours Sickly Sweet Birthday Party with the East London Stripper Collective, and will also appear at the annual Weird and Wonderful show again. As well as Guest Perform at The All Wales Pole and Aerial Championships.

2018 and 2019 saw Jamie perform at Weird and Wonderful again in Swindon, as well a the notorious Bad Girls Club in Leicester.

2017, Jamie's creation Scarlet Show and Scarlet Weekend debuted and was a huge hit with the industry! Attracting the exact same audience, and more, to do it all over again in 2018. 2019 being probably one of the most unique and best events to ever hit the industry!

In March 2020 Defy Gravity group classes and VIPs went online throughout most of the year. With Jamie creating a Patreon channel alongside her long running Serpent Power Vimeo package, which gave access to her teaching and methods to a much wider audience.

Jamie also opened the show at Eden Online in the Summer of 2020.

2021 so far sees the continuation of the DG Online classes, as well as Jamie being interviewed for Kitty Velours Pxssy Parlour Podcast and also When in Chrome magazine.

2022 sees Scarlet Weekend become Scartet Season, expanding over a 5 day period due to popular demand!

Jamie insists on fun classes, and safe progress. Being able to break down any move into simple steps, and also able to demo the more advanced variants. While knowing exactly what it takes to get to the top, Jamie's classes still focus on fun.
